Gone Wanderin’
(Dig 106)
If you haven’t heard of Jackie by now, you will. This then-22-year old writes songs far beyond his years and plays guitar, harmonica and keyboards like a veteran. His rootsy, bluesy, folky, rocky tunes make you forget about pigeonholing his music. Think of Tom Waits, Springsteen, Tom Petty, or Dylan, only with a great singing voice.

Broken Hearts and Dusty Roads
(DIG 111) DVD
This intimate DVD caps a banner year (2003) for the 23-year old singer-songwriter, hailed by the SF Chronicle as "a phenom who reveals an effortless flair for Texas-and-Greenwich Village-style folk, hillbilly stomp, bar-band boogie woogie, or just about any roots-related genre he cares to try on for size. He's a songwriter, plain and simple, and a superb one at that."
In an after hours television studio, Greene, with his band and solo, performs songs from both Gone Wanderin' and Rusty Nails (DIG 106, 107). Conversational segments in between songs with industry vet and writer Kent Zimmerman reveal Greene's engaging honesty, humor, and passion for music. He introduces the delicate "Sweet Somewhere Bound," the title track from his upcoming CD, as well as concert favorites "Don't Mind Me, I'm Only Dying Slow" and "The Red and the Rose."
* 40 minute program
* Three new songs from his upcoming album Sweet Somewhere Bound.
* Includes a never released song with still photo montage.
* Special feature allows you to play "just the songs" like you would a CD.

Sweet Somewhere Bound
(DIG 112)
(Verve B0004708-02)
Songwriter Jackie Greene dramatically expands on his folk, country and blues roots in his first new release since 2002's critically acclaimed GONE WANDERIN.'
Greene says this is a deeply personal song cycle, and while the disc jump-starts with the rollicking "Cell Block # 9," his homage to Cash/Haggard, the thirteen-song effort is rather darkly felt. His nervy themes of betrayal, trust, loneliness and redemption through love feature Greene's fearless down-home vocals, stylish Mississippi John Hurt finger picking, rave-up Telecaster, beyond-Dylanesque harp playing and spot-on Hammond B-3 organ and piano expertise. A quintuple musical treat, Greene's complexities in both music and lyric require intelligent listening and yet his songs are drenched in everyman hook-laden melodies. Greene is definitely not green; this 2004 effort is startling mature, the brave next step of a consummate young artist.

American Myth
(Verve B0006091-02)
Verve Forecast released American Myth, the latest album from the acclaimed young singer/songwriter Jackie Greene includes thirteen new songs written by Greene and produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos (Rickie Lee Jones, Susan Tedeschi).
American Myth features multi-instrumentalist Greene on vocals, guitars, dobro, piano, harmonica, and percussion. He is also joined by a top-notch band of Pete Thomas (drums, percussion, trash can), Davey Faragher (vocals, bass), both of whom are members of Elvis Costello's longtime group, The Imposters; and Val McCallum (vocals, guitars, banjo, slide guitar, baritone). Steve Berlin also contributes with turns on mellotron, vibes, and percussion, and the whole group is joined by a number of guest musicians including a slamming horn section on four of the album's tracks.
From the swamp-like feel of the anthemic opener "Hollywood," the record rolls right into the rollicking "So Hard To Find My Way." Greene shows off his range by cranking it up on the in-your-face "I'm So Gone" and the heartland rock of "Farewell, So Long, Goodbye" and dialing it back on the album's meditative "Love Song 2 a.m." and the wistful "Never Satisfied."
Greene's inspired songwriting, mastery of wordplay, and flawless composition technique are showcased throughout American Myth. Nowhere is that more evident than on the exquisite "Supersede," a catchy, melodic epic. Other standout tunes on the album are the powerful blues-soaked rocker "Cold Black Devil/14 Miles," and the plaintive "When You're Walking Away."
Greene continues with his active tour schedule, bringing his captivating live performance to venues across the nation. For dates and more information, visit www.jackiegreene.com.
