San Similar's latest album "Vaccinery" is the recorded realization of one of Sacramento's best live acts. The eleven songs included have been refined in front of audiences city-wide over the past two years. The result is a sophisticated example of progressive, independent rock. From vibe soaked whispers, to all-out horn section epics, San Similar plays to rock-tastes inclined towards style and augmentation. "Vaccinery" would come across as a post-rock art piece were it not for the simple potency of its songs' arrangements. The production blends influences from acid jazz to Latin "banda" forming an experience that is, somehow, absolutely playable on pop radio. San Similar's "Vaccinery" is a refreshing change of vernacular for the telling of stories we live everyday.
