The Beau Brummels (DIG 102) had the first big hit of what came to be known as the San Francisco Sound. "Laugh Laugh" hit the charts in 1965 and gave the Brummels the reputation as the first American band to replicate the British Invasion sound. After a few more hits, including "You Tell Me Why" and "Just A Little", the band shifted to Warner Brothers where they made 2 critically lauded albums, Triangle and Bradley's Barn. But, their hit making days were over. Songwriter Ron Elliott tackled a few solo projects and lead singer Sal Valentino started Stoneground.

By 1974, the original five members of the Beau Brummels were ready to try it again. With an armload of new tunes from Elliott, they began to rehearse and work toward securing a new record contract. During that time, a series of 8 shows were booked at the Shire Road Pub in Fair Oaks near Sacramento, California. Fortunately, those shows were taped, and through the magic of current technology, the tapes were brought to life in the first major release on DIG Music.

Ron Elliott still writes songs at his home in San Francisco. Sal Valentino is working with a band on new material and appears regularly in Northern California.
