Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers have been picked as "Best West Coast Blues Band" six times in Real Blues magazine and are in the Sacramento Area Music Awards (SAMMIES) Hall of Fame. Singer-songwriter-harmonica player Martin performed at Carnegie Hall's "Blues in Jazz" celebration in 1994 and has been an on-stage guest with Jimmy Smith, Freddie King, Jimmy Rogers, Bo Diddley, Mick Taylor, the Yardbirds and many others.
Mick Martin was an avid fan of music beginning in his pre-teen years.Growing up in Sacramento, it was hard not to be a follower of the Beach Boys. When the British Invasion came along, he was listening to the Beatles and Jerry & The Pacemakers along with everyone else. But then, some of the music on the early Rolling Stones albums started rattling his soul. The tracks they nicked from American blues artists cut deeper than any of the Mod wailings. Mick set off to find out more about the writers listed in the album credits, and a life-long committment to the blues began.
Today, Mick is a hard-working musician with a dozen albums to his credit. He has played on-stage wit the likes of Mick Taylor and Jimmy Smith and counts many legendary blues stars as friends from Etta James and Charlie Musselwhite to Tommy Castro and John Mayall. He hosts a weekly blues show on Sacramento's NPR affiliate and often writes and speaks about The Blues.
Tip of the Hat
(DIG 105)
Joining Mick on Tip Of The Hat are guitarist Tim Barnes and drummer Steve Price who spent years with Stoneground and longtime bassist Steve Schofer.
The title refers to this homage to the British bands of the 60 ‘s that turned US kids on to music from their own land…The Blues. Grinding tributes to the Rolling Stones, Pretty Things, John Mayall, Peter Green, Kinks and Manfred Mann make this an essential blues-rock collection.

A Bob Dylan Tribute
(DIG 109)
Jackie Greene and the Jackie Greene Band, Sal Valentino, Mick Martin, Steve Price, Lew Fratis, Sherman Baker and Billy Harper Jr. got together at Marilyn's at the corner of 12th and K in Sacramento for two nights of celebrating the music of America's premiere songwriter. Turns out, these guys all loved Dylan's work so much that each of them brought new life to the 13 songs featured here. And, this is the first release by Sal Valentino of the Beau Brummels (Laugh, Laugh) and Stoneground in nearly 30 years!
